In a viral video that has been watched over 200,000 times in the first 5 days, and sure to exceed a million views in 2017, Pastor Steve Cioccolanti quoted an investment adage “sell in may, and go away” to suggest Koreans and Japanese in Seoul to take a break from the stress of North Korea in the month of May.
For those who may not understand this warning, let’s look at what investors means by “sell in may, and go away“. The advice does NOT mean that the stock market crashes every month of May. According to Investopedia, “Since 1950, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has had an average return of only 0.3% during the May-October period, compared with an average gain of 7.5% during the November-April period…the exact reasons for this seasonal trading pattern are not known.” According to Wikipedia, “Analysis by Bouman and Jacobsen (2002) shows that the effect has indeed occurred in 36 out of 37 countries examined, and since the 17th century (1694) in the United Kingdom.” So investors understand that the month of May marks the beginning of low returns and low volume trading.
Pastor Steve Cioccolanti introduced to the Body of Christ the concept of the “Psalm 9 War,” in addition to the well known and anticipated “Psalm 83 War”. Psalm 9 is a war of justice, which is due to the historically oppressed in North Korea, Armenia, and Greece. Verse 17 mentions Sheol which is a pun on Seoul.
Pastor Cioccolanti also cited two prophecies by Greek Orthodox Elder Paisios and Jewish Rabbi Levi Sa’adia Nachmani, both of whom received visions of the future in the same year 1994! 23 years later, the year of Jubilee 2017 (coupled with the Revelation 12 sign) is a likely window of time for these predictions to be fulfilled. One startling play on word Rabbi Nacmani mentioned was how closely related Seoul (the capital of Korea) is to Sheol (the Hebrew word for “hell”):
“Do you know what will happen? God forbid. Korea! The nukes! It will be very hard for us if we won’t do Teshuva (repentance). KOREA WILL COME HERE. They are preparing an Atom bomb – and it’s meant for us. If we don’t do Teshuva, it’ll be very difficult for us… Do you know where is Shoel [Hell]? IT IS THE CAPITAL CITY OF KOREA – Seoul.”
Other play on words that may be prophetic for this season:
- “May Day, May Day, May Day,” which is a distress signal invented in 1923 and always repeated three times. Its origins is said to be “venez m’aider,” French for “come help me!”.
- British Prime Minister Theresa May has called for a snap election on June 8, 2017. Could her name be prophetic? She is Theresa MAY, not Theresa April or June.
- The 19th Presidential election to replace the disgraced, first female prime minister of Korea, Park Geun-hye, is set to occur on May 9, 2017.
- Investors have been forewarned, “Sell in may and go away!“
